The students of Henry S. West Laboratory Elementary School conducted a Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit the CHARLEE Homes for Children and the St. Alban Child Enrichment Center.

The culminating event took place on Nov. 18 when all the classes created decorated baskets that were delivered to the organizations for distribution.

West Lab’s dedicated teachers, along with PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) headed by presidents Jana Hertz and Vicki Berg as well as vice president Lucy Paine, had been organizing the event as part of the school’s annual community service projects.

“Our annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive is my favorite school-wide activity because it gives our students an opportunity to experience giving to those who are less fortunate,” said school principal Barbara Soto-Pujadas.

More than 50 baskets were created and distributed for the families to enjoy during the Thanksgiving holiday.
