Why the Oscars are bad for plastic surgery!

As I was watching the Oscars last week, I was appalled by what I saw. Apparently, so were some of my clients. Every year after the glamorous event, I hear these same questions: “Will my plastic surgery make me look like some of those movie stars I see at the Oscars?” “If those people have so much money, why do they look so bad after their plastic surgery?”

The simple answer is: You don’t have to look like that! The more extreme cases of plastic surgery are more likely to be tweeted about, talked about and shared on Facebook. Some might say that that any publicity is better than no publicity at all. Back in small town Miami, I don’t believe that!

I believe that plastic surgery and all nonsurgical treatments such as Botox, Dysport, Restylane, Juvederm, Voluma and others are only as good as the physician performing the procedures. In fact, many of the movie stars in the audience at the Oscars and those who won the golden statue have had excellent plastic surgery. They weren’t noticed because they had seen great doctors who helped them achieve a natural, youthful look.

The take home message is: Seek out quality doctors who have your aesthetic bias. Don’t go for cheap, because that’s just what you’ll get. And finally… beauty is in the eye of the beholder – some of those people actually think they look good!
