Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava recently announced the appointment of Bronwyn Stanford as the new director of the Miami-Dade Animal Services Department following a national search.
Stanford comes to the county following a long career in government and nonprofit administration and child and family welfare, including strategic planning, budget management, relationship management, and policy development. She served most recently as senior vice president at Children’s Home Society (CHS), overseeing CHS’ evidence-based community solutions and partnerships across the southern region — from Miami-Dade across Palm Beach County and throughout the entire Suncoast.
She also is the founder and CEO of CJPAWS Inc. (Compassion, Justice, and Protection for the Animals We Save), an animal rescue organization with the mission of rescuing abandoned, abused, and neglected animals, and animals who have been displaced due to their owner’s illness or other incapacity.
“Bronywn’s strong administration background coupled with her lifelong work in animal advocacy make her a perfect fit for the role,” Mayor Levine Cava said.
“Her legal training and passion for the safety and wellbeing of our animal population, and their importance to the health and wellbeing of our residents, are what distinguished her among many excellent candidates. I am fully confident in Bronwyn’s ability to lead the Animal Services Department with excellence and compassion,” the mayor added.
“My background includes advocating for children and families across Miami-Dade, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to bring the same level of advocacy, commitment, and passion for our animal community as the new director of Animal Services,” Stanford said. “I am grateful to Mayor Levine Cava for entrusting me with this very important mission.”
Prior to her role at CHS, Bronwyn held several high-profile positions at the Department of Children and Families, Carlton Fields Law Firm PA, Stetson College of Law, and the Pinellas County State Attorney’s Office.
She holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degree in Education from Western Michigan University and a JD from Stetson College of Law.
