Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) and Friends of Miami Animals Foundation Inc. (FoMA), have announced that the WOW (Wellness on Wheels) Mobile, the county’s fully equipped mobile veterinary clinic, is located at Florida City Hall, through Nov. 30.
Pet owners can bring their dogs and cats to the WOW Mobile for complimentary basic veterinary services at its new location at Florida City Hall, 404 W. Palm Dr., Florida City, FL 33034. Services are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis during the hours of 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday (the WOW Mobile is closed Sunday, Monday and county observed holidays).
The WOW Mobile provides basic medical care to owned dogs and cats including physical exams, wellness vaccines and boosters, heartworm screening, deworming, heartworm and flea prevention, as well as referrals for spay/neuter surgery. The WOW Mobile travels to underserved neighborhoods in the community that have been identified as “veterinary deserts” and provides free basic medical services to owned dogs and cats.
WOW Mobile services are made possible through a substantial gift and grant funding from FoMA. In addition to purchasing and donating the mobile veterinary vehicle, FoMA has provided Animal Services with a grant of $500,000 to operate the vehicle throughout its first year with the county funding years two and three of the three-year pilot program.
