The 2017 Infiniti Q50 is a striking sports sedan featuring sweeping lines from its well-designed sheet metal.
Sitting in the Q50, you’ll find an attractive center console that is largely dominated by Infiniti InTouch, a twin-screen system with a touchscreen and a handful of hard keys for easier control while driving.
The 2017 Q50 also comes with several engine and trim options such as a hybrid engine or a V6. The base engine is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that creates 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Next in the lineup are twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6s. For the base trim, the V6 makes 300 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque. The Red Sport 400 trim, the one we were lucky enough to test, boasts a V6 capable of 400 hp and 350 pound-feet of torque.
The Red Sport Q50’s fuel economy is 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. But if you are interested in a more fuel-savvy ride, the Q50 also comes in a hybrid option which earns 28 mpg city and 34 highway.
On the road, the Q50 takes on corners confidently and has quick response from its steering system. This is with the assistance of several technologies Infiniti employed to improve handling such as the “steer-by-wire” Direct Adaptive Steering (DAS) system. Driving in the Q50 feels solid, comfortable and safe. The latter is especially true because of all the safety features the Q50 has to offer.
Some of these features include surround-view cameras, forward-collision warning systems with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitors. Moreover, this year’s Q50 was rated as Good by the IIHS in four tests, and it received a Superior rating on the front crash prevention test. The NHTSA gave the Q50 five out of five stars in side crash and rollover tests for rear- and all-wheel drive versions.
Other features you’ll find inside of the Q50 Red Sport 400 include, but are not limited to: Infiniti InTouch dual display system, Bluetooth, intelligent key, voice recognition, power sliding glass moonroof, Bose surround sound, auxiliary and two USB ports, homelink universal garage remote, rain-sensing wipers, SiriusXM Travel Link and Infiniti Vehicle Immobilizer system.
Another feature worth noting in the Q50, is its attractive interior. The 2017 Q50 is lined with quilted leather, wood accents and dark chrome trim for an upscale feel. The Q50’s appearance, both inside and out is sleek and overall very attractive.
While the 2017 Infiniti Q50 was intended as a sports sedan, it is much more of a luxury sedan with a touch of sporty. A well-designed interior and comfortable bolstered seating makes the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport a total pleasure to drive. Not only is the Q50 attractive and comfortable to drive, it also is very safe, earning the highest rating of “Good” from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The 2017 Infiniti Q50 is a well-rounded vehicle, providing performance and safety along with style and luxury in the form of a sporty sedan.
The MSRP for the 2017 Infiniti Q50 starts at $48,700.
