A special concert, a roadway completion and other news

Better hurry for this one! Classic Albums Live performance of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.” Friday, September 14, 8:00 p.m. on the Main Stage. Tickets are $35; $50 VIP Table Seating* It’s a note for note, cut for cut recreation of one of Led Zeppelin’s most complex and nuanced albums, Houses of the Holy. Highlights of the LP include the dynamic folk- and rock-mashing “Over the Hills and Far Away,” the beautifully intricate ballad “The Rain Song” and the reggae-influenced “D’yer Mak’er.” The album closes with a Robert Plant-penned love song to the band’s fans, “The Ocean.” *VIP tickets include table seating and service, with a complimentary drink. We’re glad to hear that the Manta Drive Roadway Improvement Project has been completed ahead of schedule and under budget.

Town Manager Rafael Casals tells us, “Project limits included Manta Drive between Old Cutler Road and Marlin Road. The project consisted of new sidewalks, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) crosswalks, driveway approaches, continuous valley gutter, improved drainage, asphalt milling and resurfacing, back of sidewalk harmonization, and street tree planting.”

Keep on busing! The Town of Cutler Bay Circulator Bus runs Monday through Saturday, from 8:40 a.m. to 5:33 p.m. The fare is only 25¢, students 10¢, and seniors (with the Golden Passport) are FREE. Their slogan is “Come ride with us.” Also to take note of, the Circulator route is now extended to Walmart (SW 211 Street) and the South Dade Transitway. For info go to:

Bridal Expo… If you’re planning a wedding, sweet sixteen, or an anniversary celebration, you would probably want to take in this really special event. The Village of Palmetto Bay’s 6th Annual Bridal Expo takes place on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Thalatta Estates Park located at 17301 Old Cutler Road. The theme is Where Dreams Begin… “The annual Palmetto Bay Bridal Expo attracts top notch vendors to meet all the needs for your next special occasion, while you enjoy the very picturesque Thalatta Estates with its beautiful views of the Biscayne Bay.”

There’ll be lots of the best professionals in the industry including event planners, photographers, florists, entertainers and caterers. You will receive complimentary valet services and free admission. “During the Expo, your taste buds will be tantalized with specialty food and beverage samples, enjoy live music and get the opportunity to explore all the property’s amenities and beauty that Thalatta Estate has to offer including; the renovated 1910s mansion, prep kitchen, bridal suite, manicured grounds, and open water views.” Please note, you need to RSVP at www.palmettobay-fl.gov by no later than Thursday, September 27th. Arts Festival… And a heads-up for a nearby event. There’ll be a first time Arts Festival at the Kendall United Methodist Church on October 6 that promises to be really nice. There’ll be fine arts and fine crafts, Volkswagen cars on display, food vendors, activities for kids, and lots more, all to raise funds to benefit programs and groups in the community and to bring folks together. The Church is located at 7600 SW 104th Street in Pinecrest. The art festival runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Don’t miss it!
