Ballet At The Park Dance Company recently concluded its 2023-24 season at the Seminole Theatre of Homestead with an exhilarating performance of Don Quixote.

Audiences were transported to Spain in this comic romance which certainly did not disappoint. Featuring music by one of the founding fathers of Russian ballet music, Ludwig Minkus, and created by one of history’s most renowned choreographers, Marius Petipa, Don Quixote was an unforgettable stage spectacle of pure fun.

The romance begins in Act I with Kitri and Basilio’s sparkling guitar pas de deux. It continues with much bravura dancing, a humorous cast of characters, clicking castanets, ruffled skirts, street dancers and a troop of Gypsies.

“I was determined to bring Spain to South Florida,” said Vilma Borbolla, founder and director of Ballet At The Park Dance Company which is celebrating its 12th anniversary.

“Don Quixote brings me to my roots. Being of Spanish ancestral roots, (my grandparents migrated from Spain in the late 1940s) I feel very close to this Spanish tale and its Spanish delights.”
