Ballet At The Park Dance Company recently concluded its 2022-23 season at The Seminole Theatre of Homestead.
Through a collaborative process of live music and dance, audiences were graced with an afternoon of performances that effortlessly utilized the talents of all company members.
Upon discovering that that senior dance company member Sabrina Vaca was a classically trained pianist, director and founder Vilma Borbolla immediately understood that harnessing every artistic talent of her students, not just those of dance, was vital to the success of this season final performance.
At the start of the show, the curtain rose to reveal Sabrina sitting at a baby grand piano under a singular spotlight. She went on to play A River Flows followed by A Married Life, which was accompanied by a trio of ballerinas depicting the joys of being a woman at every stage in life.
Borbolla, who also was one of the evening’s performers, recalls performing to live music as a child in both her lessons and on stage.
“Live music completely changes my performance. Having live music brings a sense of humanity and soul into my performance,” she said. “The audience also feels the energy of the music and is more likely to respond and connect to my beautiful dancers. Having the opportunity to perform to one of my own student’s live music is a moment I’ll treasure forever.”
