For seven years, Banyan Health Systems has been offering child and adult psychiatry, and behavioral health therapy in Cutler Bay. As of mid-February, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) approved the site to proceed as a Federally Qualified Health Center, which means that residents of the area now can receive primary care services with or without insurance, regardless of their ability to pay.
“We are so pleased to be able to extend our services with the addition of primary care,” said Bruce Hayden, CEO of Banyan Health. “The facility located on Caribbean Blvd, will enable residents of Cutler Bay and beyond to access our services even closer to their homes.”
People looking for routine physical care, pediatrics, Women’s Health services and/or to manage their diabetes have the comfort of knowing they can see a doctor for all their medical concerns. A patient can be seen even if they don’t have an appointment, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
In addition, HRSA approved a Substance Use Disorder/Mental Health services grant in order to see patients suffering from one, or both disorders. The purpose of the grant is for Banyan Health to work with area hospitals and providers and ensure patients have access to primary and behavioral health services.
“Our hope is to begin working with hospital systems, like Baptist, to ensure patients with primary care needs, including those suffering from SUD-MH, will be referred to our Cutler Bay site for services, followup, and treatment,” Hayden added. The program will eventually include Medication-Assisted Treatment services.
The Cutler Bay facility is located at 10720 Caribbean Blvd., Suite 420, Cutler Bay, Fl 33189. For questions or appointments, they can be reached at 786-293-9544.
