The Public Works Department of the Town of Cutler Bay hosted a Public Involvement Meeting on January 7 in the Town Hall Council Chambers to let residents know about the second phase of the Caribbean Boulevard Project. Work Zone #1 is nearly complete in the roadway improvement effort and construction has begun on Zone #2, extending the project from Anchor Road to the C100 Canal. Town Manager Rafael Casals tells us that Work Zone #2 detours have been installed for Caribbean Boulevard between Gulfstream Road and the C100 Canal, however, residents and local traffic will continue to have access to the area. Electronic message boards and detour signs will be strategically incorporated to effectively direct the flow of traffic. Estimated completion date is sometime in May of 2016. More than 25 residents attended the Public Involvement Meeting and Mayor Peggy Bell took part in explaining about the detour route.
“Providing good information to residents has always been a priority for the Town,” said Mayor Bell. “Public Works Director Alfredo Quintero did a great job assembling a panel of experts to explain the project and the impact it may have on traffic patterns. We are most pleased to have the ability to improve this roadway and will work hard to do everything possible to manage the detour for the neighbors most affected.”
