Drivers in Cutler Bay, you may have already noticed this, but if not be aware that the Caribbean Boulevard Roadway Improvement Project is underway. It started on March 5th and runs through April 30th, so it’s of relatively short duration! Much quicker than the Old Cutler Road project. Work on Caribbean Boulevard is in the area from Coral Sea Road to SW 87th Avenue, and there will of necessity be road closures and a temporary detour route while the work is in progress. Some traffic will be diverted to Bahama Road and Dominican Drive and the intersection of Caribbean Boulevard and Marlin Road is part of the project.
We are told that “Access for local residents and public services will be maintained in the work zone during the temporary road closure.” If you have questions, feel free to contact the Town’s Public Works Department at 305-234-4262 and/or email them at caribbeanproject@cutlerbayfl.gov. And if you go online to the town’s official website, www.cutlerbay-fl.gov, you can download a detailed full color map of the area and detours.
Seniors, take note: It’s called the Healthy Living Program in Cutler Bay, and it was created with you in mind. A free sixweek course is being offered dealing with arthritis, heart disease, diabetes and a number of other chronic illnesses, as well as how to work with your healthcare team, manage symptoms, use medications effectively, exercise safely and other topics. It’s just two and a half hours a week. Class size is limited, so if this is of interest to you preregistering early is a good idea. The location is Cutler Ridge Park, 10100 SW 200th Street in Cutler Bay, and it runs from April 18 through May 23. Each session is from 9:30 a.m. to noon. It’s sponsored by the Department of Elder Affairs, the Administration on Aging and is an Evidence-Based Healthy Aging Program. To register for this workshop and for directions, call 305-238-4166.
Mark this on your calendar — quickly, though! The next Regular Council Meeting is on Wednesday, March 19. The Cutler Bay Town Council holds its regular scheduled meetings every third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall’s Council Chambers at 10720 Caribbean Boulevard. Got questions? And if you haven’t heard, the Cutler Bay Local Mini-Bus expanded its service awhile back. Used to operate only three days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but now it runs Monday through Friday from 8:35 a.m. to 5:35 p.m. All major destinations in Cutler Bay are served by the Cutler Bay Local, including schools, Town Hall, and the busway, and the fare for the Mini-Bus service is still just 25 cents. Miami-Dade Transit Easy Cards are honored.
