CBT College’s Cutler Bay campus continued its outreach programs in the community with the return of its annual Backpack Giveaway.
Its latest such event on Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featured free activities, food, drinks, music, raffles, the backpacks themselves and a chance for parents and students to get acquainted with the college and its curriculum.
Russell Battiata, CBT College campus director, explained why the school is continuing the program.
“It’s a family-run business and we like to give back to the community,” Battiata said before the event. “It’s a way for us to become close to the community and have folks come to the school and see what we are. We’ve given away 400 book bags each year the last two years. Each family is entitled to two, so typically that’s 200 families. We’ve been in business for 26 years and in Cutler Bay for five years.”
CBT College’s Cutler Bay Campus is located at 19151 S. Dixie Hwy. The college has Miami Gardens, Hialeah, Flagler and West Kendall campuses as well.
“We’re a long-running business with credibility and we just want people to know we’re here,” Battiata said. “We’re ready to help the community, whether it’s with backpacks, partnering with other businesses or enrolling people at the school, however we can help.”
CBT College has six different programs. Three of them are at the associate level and are two years long, and three of them are at the diploma level, which is basic vocational training.
