Celebrate the fall harvest at Deering Estate, Oct. 9

Celebrate the fall harvest on Sunday, Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Deering Estate, 16701 SW 72 Ave. in Palmetto Bay.

Guests can enjoy activities such as bocce ball and croquet, as well as taking family photos next to the vintage International Harvester Truck and other locations on-site that are decorated for fall. Historic house tours are offered at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., and a natural areas tour is offered at 12:30 p.m.

General admission is $12 for adults, $7 for children (ages 4-14), and free for Deering Estate Foundation Members.

The 450-plus-acre Deering Estate is an environmental, archaeological and historical preserve. From canoe tours to butterfly walks and guided Historic House tours, the Deering Estate has diverse activities for the whole family to enjoy. The estate is part of the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, which manages the estate on behalf of the State of Florida.

This year the Deering Estate celebrates 30 years on the National Register of Historic Places and the 100th anniversary of Charles Deering’s purchase and restoration of the Richmond Hotel for his winter residence.
