Centennial Nights LIVE! programs coming to Biscayne National Park

Centennial Nights LIVE! programs featuring free, family friendly events are taking place at Biscayne National Park in celebration of the centennial anniversary of the National Park Service. Each event, beginning at 6 p.m. and run ning to 9 p.m., includes a small campfire and s’mores, and takes place on the grounds of the park’s Dante Fascell Visitor Center.
Coming events:

Feb. 27 — Join Ranger Gary for “Songs and Stories from Our National Parks” as he reprises a very special program presented at the 75th anniversary of the National Park Service. This old-timey ranger program includes stories and songs from our national parks.

Mar. 26 — Join park rangers for a “Paddle After Dark” guided canoe trip to experience the park’s crepuscular twilight world. Reservations will be taken online beginning Mar. 1 for the canoe trip. Two time slots are available. Children ages 14-18 may paddle with an adult and those ages 9-13 may sit on the floor of the canoe. This program is weather dependent. Personal canoes are not permitted.

Apr. 23 — “Sunset Cruise on the Bay” program features a free hourlong ranger guided cruise on Biscayne Bay. Reservations will be taken online beginning Apr. 1. Two time slots are available. This program is weather dependent.
May 28 — “Beneath the Waves Film Festival” features locally produced or locally relevant films. Some filmmakers and scientists may be on site to discuss the films.

All events are free, family friendly and open to the public. The Dante Fascell Visitor Center is located at 9700 SW 328 St., nine miles east of Homestead. The visitor center will be open after regular hours only for the May 28 event.
