Homestead welcomed Councilmember Julio Guzman to the City Council as he took the Oath of Office, administered by Homestead City Clerk Elizabeth Sewell, on the evening of Feb. 21. Councilmember Guzman was appointed to fill Council Seat No. 1 in accordance with the City Charter’s procedure for vacancy. He will hold the seat until the city’s regularly scheduled election in November. Previous to his appointment, Councilmember Guzman was an active member of the Homestead community and a Realtor.
