In a historic milestone for South Dade, Amazon has officially opened its new 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center in Naranja, located in the heart of Miami-Dade County’s District 9.

The state-of-the-art facility, equivalent in size to 17 football fields, is set to employ more than 1,000 local residents, offering high-quality jobs and contributing to the region’s economic growth.

The grand opening marks a significant step in the collaboration between Amazon and Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee, whose efforts were instrumental in securing the fulfillment center’s impact in the district.

As part of The McGhee Plan 2025, this fulfillment center is one of many strategic initiatives of Commissioner McGhee’s ongoing commitment to creating employment opportunities designed to enhance the quality of life for South Dade residents. By securing large-scale investments and working with key stakeholders, Commissioner McGhee continues to position South Dade as a hub for innovation, business, and community development.

The new fulfillment center will not only provide jobs but will uplift the community with a variety of meaningful benefits for its employees. Workers will enjoy comprehensive healthcare, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) plan with a 50 percent company match, and wages that exceed the local living wage standard. In an effort to support continuing education, Amazon is offering guaranteed paid tuition for employees to pursue degrees at Miami Dade College, ensuring a pathway to both career advancement and personal growth.

“Bringing Amazon to Naranja is about more than just creating jobs — it’s about providing dignity, pride, and opportunity to the people of South Dade,” Commissioner McGhee said.

“This fulfillment center will be a cornerstone of our community, offering employment that helps families thrive and encouraging lifelong learning through educational opportunities.”

Amazon’s investment in Naranja goes beyond job creation. The company has partnered with the Economic Development Council of South Dade to foster long-term growth for the region. Commissioner McGhee’s close collaboration with Amazon helped ensure that local South Dade residents were prioritized for employment, strengthening the ties between the community and the company.

“This is a victory for the residents of South Dade,” McGhee said. “Together with Amazon, we’re opening doors for individuals and families, and this fulfillment center is a powerful reminder that South Dade is open for business and ready for the future.”
