Councilmember presents certificates to AYSO Region 805 youth soccer
American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Region 805 players are honored by the Homestead City Council.

The City of Homestead recently recognized and celebrated the remarkable achievements of the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Region 805 during a special presentation attended by Councilmember Larry Roth.

The event was a occasion to honor the exceptional efforts of the young athletes and their dedicated coaches who participated in the AYSO National Games held in Irvine, CA in July.

The regional commissioner for AYSO Region 805 shared the inspiring journey undertaken by these talented young soccer players. With the generous support of several council members who contributed donations, they embarked on an incredible adventure, raising funds and rallying community support, to compete in what is often referred to as the “World Cup” for AYSO. This journey from Homestead to California was a dream come true for the kids, and their determination paid off in a big way.

The AYSO Region 805 teams represented Homestead and showcased their skills on a national stage. Councilmember Roth acknowledged the hard work, dedication, and unity of these young athletes, stating, “It’s one thing to hear from the coaches and adults, but it’s another to hear from the kids who actually experienced it.”

The awards ceremony saw the recognition of several teams, with the U-12 Boys securing an impressive second-place finish in their group during their first national appearance. The all-girls U-14 team secured a fourth-place finish out of 16 competing teams in their bracket. Meanwhile, the U-16 girls exceeded expectations by finishing seventh nationally and earned praise not only for their performance on the field but also for their exceptional sportsmanship and class both on, and off the field.

In addition to the certificates presented to the players, the coaches received plaques in recognition of their dedication and hard work in preparing the teams for the national competition. Councilmember Roth emphasized the importance of providing opportunities and support to the youth in the city, promising continued assistance to these young athletes and encouraging them to come forward whenever they need it.

The presentation concluded with a message from some of the team captains who shared their unforgettable experiences, highlighting the bonds formed, the joy of representing Homestead, and the gratitude they felt toward the community, coaches, and parents who made it all possible.

The AYSO Region 805 commissioner, expressed his deepest appreciation to the city council, local businesses, and the entire Homestead community for their unwavering support throughout the journey. As a token of appreciation, the council members were presented with pins from the national games, symbolizing the unity and pride of the AYSO Region 805.
