The Miami-Dade County Commission recently passed a series of resolutions approving the construction of road improvement projects in the southern portion of Miami-Dade County.
Located primarily in District 9, where Dennis C. Moss serves as commissioner, the projects are intended to support economic development and improve traffic mobility.
“South-Dade is growing,” Commissioner Moss said. “We are planning for future development in the area by adding additional lanes in some areas with improved lighting and drainage systems.”
Florida City will see road improvements in the area of SW 344th Street between US1 and 172nd Avenue. Work will include filling and paving the existing canal in order to add lanes. This will provide better access to the area and support future commercial development in the city.
SW 328th (Lucy) Street, a major corridor between Florida City and Homestead from US1 to SW 162nd Avenue, will see a widening of the existing roadway from two to four lanes. This roadway will be improved with a raised median, sidewalks, curb and gutters, bicycle facilities, continuous storm drainage system, signalization, pavement markings and signage, and decorative lighting.
Roadway improvements also were approved along SW 152nd Street between 147th and 157th avenues. The work will consist of widening the existing roadway from two to four lanes with a raised median, sidewalks, curb and gutters, bicycle paths, continuous storm drainage system, signalization, pavement markings and signage, and decorative lighting.
