Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and County Commission Vice Chair Kionne L. McGhee will join representatives from the Department of Public Housing and Community Development on Jan. 9, at 10 a.m., to celebrate the grand opening of Meridian Point at Goulds Station, 11850 SW 216 St., an affordable housing development by the Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH).
The development offers 113 apartments for families with incomes ranging from 30 percent to 80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI). Sixty-eight units are reserved for families currently residing at the nearby Cutler Manor Apartments, which is slated for redevelopment into a mixed-income affordable community.
Meridian Point is being developed into two buildings — an 80-unit seven-story building and a 33-unit three-story garden building. The units consist of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. The buildings are energy efficient and meet the NGBS Gold level and Energy Star requirements. The property also provides convenient access to public transportation, retail amenities, healthcare services, employment centers, and entertainment.
The completion of this first phase of housing, as represented in the housing plan for the Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant which Miami-Dade County received in 2023, paves the way for the redevelopment of the existing Cutler Manor site.
Miami-Dade County awarded $2,613,276 in Surtax funding to Meridian Point at Goulds Station.
