The Town of Cutler Bay will conduct its fall restoration cleanup, the final one of the year, on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restoration site will be at 18445 Old Cutler Rd. and there will be free parking available nearby.
“Join us for a rewarding day at the restoration site,” said Rod Gibson, town public information officer. “In collaboration with the South Florida Water Management District and LivableCutler, we’re inviting volunteers to help restore habitats, revitalize the ecosystem, and promote biodiversity. Earn community service hours while planting natives, removing invasives and making a positive impact on our environment.
“Parking is available curbside on SW 184th Street, east of Old Cutler Road. The town will provide safety equipment, tools, water and snacks. Please bring sunscreen, long pants, and closed-toe shoes,” Gibson added.
The cleanup in September saw a record-breaking turnout with 105 volunteers, including local schools, residents and officials who came together to remove 1,200 pounds of litter.
“We’re grateful for everyone who participated and made such a lasting impact,” Gibson said. “Now, we hope you’ll help us finish the year strong by joining us for one final cleanup.”
Those who wish to receive community service hours may do so by registering, getting the QR code supplied in the email, and checking in at the table the day of the event. The registering will receive a letter from the Town of Cutler Bay awarding them the community service hours.
