Miami’s Community Newspapers fully endorses Suzy Lord for re-election as Seat 2 Councilmember in the Town of Cutler Bay. Elected in 2020, Lord has lived in the Cutler Bay community for more than 40 years, moving there when she was 12 years old. She takes an active part in all aspects of representing the town, is involved in council meetings and clearly takes her duties on behalf of the residents seriously. She always attends the special events the town conducts, being there for her fellow citizens, acting as a judge for event contests like cook-offs and handing out prizes. Whether participating in the town’s lavish July 4th celebration or donning costumes for Halloween, she gets involved.
Her father served in the Army for many years until retirement, and his service in the military gave her a sense of service and love for country. She cares about veterans and understands their needs. She shows that she wants to work to benefit her community.
A student at Cutler Ridge Junior High School, Lord attended summer camp at Cutler Ridge Park and graduated from Miami Southridge Senior High. Involved in high school activities like cheerleading and work with the band, she participated in numerous fundraisers and community events that helped set the stage for her adult life.
Professionally, Lord has worked in the legal community for more than 30 years as a paralegal, defending cases involving a variety of issues. She is deeply committed to supporting the town’s environmental efforts, especially the protection of endangered wetlands. Lord also wants to limit traffic and provide more options for public transportation, which will help reduce traffic on the community’s congested streets and improve quality of life.
Lord raised her two sons in Cutler Bay, where they enjoyed playing baseball at Franjo Park and attending summer camp at Cutler Ridge Park. Her oldest son graduated from Miami Southridge Senior High and her youngest was part of the first graduating class of Cutler Bay Senior High. As a concerned parent she cares about the school system. Her younger son was appointed to serve as the Chair for the Town’s Youth Council Committee. Lord was appointed to the Town’s Parks and Recreation Committee in 2019.
Suzy Lord has the distinction and honor of being named one of Miami Dade County’s Women of Impact 2024.
We endorse Suzy Lord and encourage you to give her your support.
