Four of the Town of Cutler Bay’s projects were honored with awards from the American Public Works Association (APWA), South Florida Branch. These prestigious accolades were presented during the APWA Awards Luncheon on Thursday, Mar. 21, at Doral’s Cultural Arts Center.

“It is certainly an honor to be recognized by our municipal colleagues who reviewed the town’s submittals and awarded these prestigious awards,” said Rafael Casals, town manager. “These awards underscore our Public Works director Alfredo Quintero and Stormwater Utility manager Yenier Vega’s commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure projects that benefit our community.”

Among the recognized projects are:
● Saga Bay 1.5 Sub-Basin Water Quality Improvement Project Award: APWA South Florida Branch Consultant of the Year recipient, SRS Engineering Inc.

● Whispering Pines Park Pervious Turf Block and Drainage Improvements Project Award: APWA South Florida Branch Consultant of the Year recipient, Stantec Consulting Services Inc.

● Whispering Pines Park Pervious Turf Block and Drainage Improvements Project Award: APWA South Florida Branch Contractor of the Year recipient, Coreland Construction Corp.

● Saga Bay 1.5 Sub-Basin Water Quality Improvement Project Award: APWA South Florida Branch Contractor of the Year Recipient, RG Underground Engineering Inc.

The Saga Bay 1.5 Sub-Basin Water Quality Improvement Project, executed by SRS Engineering Inc. and RG Underground Engineering, Inc., aimed at enhancing drainage for approximately 85 residential homes. The initiative has “significantly bolstered the community’s resilience to localized flooding,” making it a deserving recipient of both the Consultant and Contractor of the Year awards.

The Whispering Pines Park Pervious Turf Block and Drainage Improvements Project, overseen by Stantec Consulting Services Inc. and Coreland Construction Corp., has provided essential upgrades to the park’s infrastructure, including improved drainage systems and safe routes to school enhancements.

In addition to the project awards, the Town of Cutler Bay’s Public Works director, Alfredo Quintero Jr., was installed as chair of the South Florida Branch, further highlighting the town’s leadership and dedication to excellence in public works.
