Cutler Bay Senior High COAST Students Embark on Shark Tagging Expedition

Select students from Cutler Bay Senior High School’s COAST program will have a unique opportunity to participate in a shark tagging expedition aboard the University of Miami’s research vessel Garvin. The expedition, under the guidance of UM scientists, will allow students to learn firsthand about shark biology, conservation, and data collection techniques.
This extraordinary experience was made possible in part by the generous support of community partners John Anderson Realtor and Sunflower Family Medicine. Their contributions underscore a commitment to fostering STEM education and providing hands-on learning opportunities for local students.
About the COAST Program:
The Cutler Bay Ocean Academy of Science and Technology (COAST) program offers students a specialized curriculum focused on marine science and environmental studies. Through hands-on activities, research projects, and field experiences, COAST students develop a deep understanding of coastal ecosystems and the challenges they face.
