Cutler Bay’s 2024 Job Fair attracts many job seekers
Job seekers and employers meet at the 2024 Job Fair.

The Town of Cutler Bay’s 2024 Job Fair drew more people than expected when it was hosted on Tuesday, July 30, in the Council Chambers at 10720 Caribbean Blvd.

Geared toward those who are looking for a career in construction-related fields, the purpose of the Job Fair was to provide community hiring opportunities funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

A diverse group of local vendors, consultants, and contractors had tables and displays for residents of Cutler Bay and other nearby communities who are looking for employment.

Attendees had the chance to learn what was available and connect with potential employers. They could also submit their resumes and move toward securing a new career.
Councilmember Suzy Lord was excited about the event.

“Our town contractors and consultants are ready to connect with you,” Councilmember Lord said. “This was a great opportunity to learn about federally funded projects happening right here in Cutler Bay.”

The American Rescue Plan Act has played a pivotal role in the town’s ongoing development efforts, with funding that supports job creation and economic recovery, particularly in the construction sector. These projects create jobs and enhance skill development and career advancement opportunities for local residents.

Councilmember Richard Ramirez highlighted one such project.

“One of our contractors here today is Acosta Tractors, who is working on the $16 million Franjo Road project,” Councilmember Ramirez said. “When this project is completed, it will greatly improve traffic flow and drainage, making it a much better experience for everyone.”

Town manager Rafael Casals also was enthusiastic about the event.

“We’re thrilled to see such a strong turnout from our community,” Casals said. “This Job Fair is a testament to our commitment to supporting economic growth and job creation in Cutler Bay. The opportunities provided here today will not only benefit our residents but also contribute to the continued development of our Town.”
