East Ridge residents celebrate April with Pirates theme events
Some “salty” seniors gather to celebrate Pirates theme at East Ridge at Cutler Bay.

The month of April was a bit different for residents of East Ridge at Cutler Bay. The theme was Pirates and residents spent three weeks on a most enjoyable scavenger hunt throughout the community’s 76 acres.

Jean Tong-Noon, who was elected president of the Cutler Ridge Woman’s Club for another two years, also is active at the East Ridge at Cutler Bay retirement community, sitting on the residents’ council and a couple of committees.

“East Ridge at Cutler Bay is an experience to be had; residents are constantly kept busy or involved in so many activities or events, if they wish,” Tong-Noon said. “Each month all birthday celebrations are held on one night with a theme.”

She said Team Peg Legs, along with other teams of residents, walked the planks, sailed the ships (in golf carts) and searched for clues to find treasured coins.

Marco Gonzalez, who has been director of Sales and Marketing at East Ridge since 2018, enjoys the chance to help create special events.

“We like to come up with new things that the residents will find fun and interesting,” Gonzalez said.

Taking place at East Ridge at Cutler Bay on May 18, 10 a.m., is a vintage car show, along with fare from local food trucks, and a chance to see how residents in the Life Plan Community live in style “with all the activities, amenities and friends they could ask for.”

East Ridge is located at 19301 SW 87 Ave. in Cutler Bay.
