More than 10 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded on Thursday, Aug. 14, 7:43 a.m., to a First Alarm house fire near the 26200 block of SW 154th Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a carport with two vehicles, with the fire extending into a garage and the eaves of the home. Firefighters deployed hose lines to conduct a fire attack and also utilized a ladder to gain access to the roof of the home to work on extinguishing the fire. During the search, firefighters rescued a pet that was reunited with the family. Two other family pets were found in the home and, unfortunately, perished. There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
