Members of the high school baseball team at Gulliver Schools pitched in to help Neighborhood Resource Unit (NRU) officers of the Cutler Bay Policing Unit in their efforts to gather toys for area youngsters. The students collected enough toys to serve at least 30 families.

“More than 150 toys have been collected and will be distributed to each family by our NRU officers,” said Lieutenant Peter Zaharakos.

“More toys are still needed for children of all age groups. We want to make this our best year yet.”

Community members that wish to donate to this worthy cause may drop off their unwrapped toys to the Town Hall at 10720 Caribbean Blvd. Suite 105 in Cutler Bay. If you are not able to come to Town Hall, call 305-234-4262 and arrangements can be made for pickup.

“The Holiday Season is a time for cheer and celebration of our loved ones,” said Mayor Peggy Bell. “Unfortunately, it can also be a time for great stress. I am so proud of the work that our Policing Unit is doing to ensure that our parents have one less thing to worry about and I can only imagine the smile on the children’s faces when they unwrap their presents.”
