Homestead High principal addresses Kiwanis Club of Homestead-S. Dade
Samuel Louis, principal of Homestead Senior High School, addresses lunch meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Homestead-South Dade.

Samuel Louis, new principal of Homestead Senior High School, recently addressed the weekly lunch meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Homestead-South Dade, one of South Florida’s most active community service organizations.

Louis, former Miami Dade County Public Schools “Assistant Principal of the Year” at Ferguson Senior High School, shared his vision for community involvement at Homestead, which recently earned its second consecutive “B” grade. This marks only the second time in school history Homestead Senior was able to accomplish this goal.

“Speaking to the Kiwanis Club of Homestead — which is extremely involved in the South Dade community — about our goals and desire to establish community partnerships, was an honor,” said Louis, who immigrated with his parents from Haiti in 1983. “These are the type of people who care about kids of all ages.”

According to Arnold Perez, Kiwanis president and Air Force captain, Louis’ record with M-DCPS bodes well for Homestead Senior.

“Mr. Louis’ track record at every level — from elementary to middle school and high school — is nothing short of impressive,” Perez said. “Every school he has been involved with improved significantly. Obviously, he gets his staff, students and parents to buy into and share his vision, through motivation, inspiration and encouragement. He is a true community leader.”
