Homestead’s award-winning National Parks Trolley service returned Jan. 7, offering free transportation, free guided tours, and free admission to Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, and Homestead Bayfront Park. The service continues through Apr. 9.

Board the trolley at –
• Homestead Station in Downtown Homestead, located at 4 South Krome Ave., or
• Marriott Hotels complex located on Campbell Drive just east of Exit 2 of Florida’s Turnpike.

Start or end your journey in Downtown Homestead, where visitors can watch a performance at the Seminole Theatre, eat at local restaurants, or enjoy a stroll through the picturesque Losner Park. Visitors also can check out the Cybrarium, an ultra-modern, high-tech, multi-lingual public library or Showbiz Cinemas, which features the latest movie blockbusters and also has multi-lane bowling alley and modern arcade floor.

The Trolley departs from Downtown Homestead to Everglades National Park’s Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center, where riders can visit the Anhinga Trail. This year will be the 75th anniversary of the Everglades National Park with celebrations and activities planned all year long. To learn more about the park and to see some its more elusive species, visitors can choose to participate in ranger-led activities. On the way back, the trolley makes a stop at local fruit stand, Robert Is Here, where riders can enjoy signature milkshakes or browse the unique array of fruit.

The Trolley also travels to Biscayne National Park’s Dante Fascell Visitor Center and boardwalk, where visitors can take the Island Boat Tour, which departs at 10 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. on select dates Thursday-Sunday. The Trolley also stops at Miami-Dade County’s Homestead Bayfront Park where visitors may swim at the atoll beach.

The trolley program is the result of collaboration between with the National Park Service and the City of Homestead with the generous partnership and sponsorship of The Everglades Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to restore and protect America’s Everglades through science, advocacy, and education.
