Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) has opened its Off-Cycle Magnet Application period to provide students a second opportunity to apply for Magnet seats for the upcoming school year. The off-cycle application period will remain open through the beginning of the 2024-25 school year or until all seats are filled.

New for this year, all off-cycle Magnet applications will be exclusively accepted via the M-DCPS Parent Portal accessible via miamimagnets.org. Families will be prompted to sign into the Parent Portal using their Google or Apple ID, regardless of whether or not they have a student already enrolled in M-DCPS.

During the off-cycle period, families will select only from schools that have available seats, admitting students meeting eligibility on a first come, first served basis. Accepting an Off-Cycle Magnet seat does not affect a student’s wait-list status at another school.

M-DCPS Magnet programs empower students to thrive and excel in post-secondary education and the workplace, making it the premier choice for education in Miami-Dade.

For the 2024-25 school year, M-DCPS will offer over 375 Magnet programs across all grade levels, providing specialized courses with unique thematic strands of study, tailored to students’ special interests, talents, and abilities.

What is particularly exciting during the off-cycle period is the addition of new programs that were not available during the regular application cycle. Among the exciting new offerings in the off-cycle application period are an Electric Vehicle Automotive Program and a groundbreaking Industrial Biotechnology program. These programs provide students with career pathways and industry certifications upon successful completion. Enrollment is open to all eligible students, regardless of their zip code.
