MDFR responds to grass fire in South Miami-DadeMore than 15 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) units responded on Wednesday, Apr. 24, to a First Alarm grass fire near SW 112th Avenue and 256th Street. Fire crews arrived and immediately began to conduct a fire attack to protect the roadway and residential structures in the area. MDFR remained on the scene with the Florida Forest Service (FFS) working to contain the fire. Air Rescue was dispatched to perform water drops to assist with extinguishing the flames. Florida’s Turnpike was temporarily shut down in both directions, but later re-opened.
