After a long hiatus due to the pandemic, NAMI Miami-Dade’s “Reel Minds Miami Mental Health Film Festival” is making its long-awaited return this year on Sunday, October 20. It will be held at the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center, 10950 SW 211 Street, in Cutler Bay from 1-5 p.m., with a VIP after-party celebration from 5-7 p.m. Tickets start at $12.
“This event will showcase a number of short films that highlight diverse perspectives on mental health and mental health conditions. We like to focus on hope and recovery to show how people cope and are able to lead successful, active lives,” said Susan Holtzman, CEO and President of NAMI Miami-Dade. “This is one of our most beloved signature events and a unique opportunity to raise awareness for mental health through film,” Ms. Holtzman added.
“Reel Minds is a unique opportunity to raise awareness for mental health through a creative lens. In addition to film screenings, we will have panel discussions which will include local experts and filmmakers. In 2019, we had about 1,000 attendees with coverage from local media and support from elected officials. There will be sponsor tables and a post-event VIP Reception. We invite film aficionados and fans to attend this unique event,” said Kate Edelson, Director of Fundraising and Special Events.
