Rebranding effort to launch at South Dade Solutions Summit

Commissioner Dennis C. Moss and I will host the second annual South Dade Solutions Summit on Friday, July 15, 9-4 p.m., at the Cutler Bay Town Center, 10720 Caribbean Blvd. Penthouse Suite. Community leaders are invited to help us design the plan to effectively market South Dade’s recreational and tourist amenities, quality neighborhoods and schools, and business development opportunities.

Look South! That’s the mantra for the Summit.”

Commissioner Moss and I have been working hard to bring attention to the tremendous strengths of the South Miami-Dade region, and to create a shared brand and marketing plan that will catapult our area forward.

We want the world to know that South-Dade is an amazing place to live, work and play, where growth can be well-planned, smart and coordinated. We aim to locate more jobs closer to home, reduce burdensome commutes, and insure we do not sacrifice our unique assets: natural beauty, open space and strong neighborhoods.

Sadly, South Dade is still a hidden secret to many. Our region is filled with strong stable neighborhoods, award-winning schools, and thriving businesses, including an innovative farming sector and growing eco-tourism. We can do a better job to showcase our community and grow it in a way that will be a win-win-win for residents, visitors and the local economy.

Businesses may not realize the potential to locate along soon-to-be-improved transit corridors with access to a well-educated workforce.
Residents of gateway communities like South Miami and Pinecrest frequently drive north for fun; we want them to look south! South Dade is filled with new dining venues, including farm-to-table offerings, and a variety of unique family-oriented activities and cultural venues. Visitors from Miami-Dade and beyond may be unaware that we host two breath-taking national parks, the captivating Deering Estate, new theater venues, Zoo Miami and the unique stops along the Redland Tropical Trail (think monkeys, tropical fruit and fish, and bonsai).

The Summit will be an interactive results-oriented workshop for community leaders to develop the unique, shared South Dade brand and a plan to effectively market it. We will be led by nationally renowned CEO of Turkel Brands, Bruce Turkel, thanks to co-sponsor Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. Other sponsors include: Town of Cutler Bay, Homestead Hospital, Village of Palmetto Bay, Village of Pinecrest, CenterState Bank, Enterprise Florida, ChamberSouth and The Beacon Council. Space is limited, so please RSVP for this free event at http://sdss16.eventbrite.com.
