Young students enrolled in Whigham Elementary School’s Early Head Start program in Cutler Bay got a head start of a different kind with holiday cheer in mid December, before their scheduled holiday break.
Music and a visit from a special guest got them in the mood and was a fun event for them and the school’s staff as well.
“Christmas is a very enjoyable time of the year and the children at Whigham P.L.C. Early Head Start/Head Start love to spread the joy of Christmas by singing Christmas carols to their family and friends,” said Sheronda Nealy-Jenkins, PLC director. “Each classroom had an opportunity to share Yuletide carols by singing joyful Christmas songs such as Rock Around the Christmas Tree and Feliz Navidad at the top of their voices. The children also had the pleasure of getting a special visit from our very own Santa Claus.”
That Santa Claus was none other than assistant principal Eduardo Tillet of Dr. E.L. Whigham PLC, who took to the role with appropriately jolly style.
“I would like to personally thank the teachers, students and staff that made the holiday program a success,” Tillet said. “This can only be attributed to the great support the parents have for our program. Let me say what a privilege it is to work with outstanding educators while at the same time enjoying great student, parent and community support.
“The boys and girls were extremely excited to get a visit from Santa, who visited all the classrooms and delivered cheers and candy canes to all,” he added.
