Okay, while some of you may still be recovering from the effects of New Year’s Eve, it’s still good to be aware that we’re all starting off a new year with lots of potential and a bunch of special events and meetings this month.
Town Hall Meeting in Palmetto Bay! On Monday, January 7, at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Hall Municipal Center, 9705 East Hibiscus Street, the Village of Palmetto Bay will conduct a Town Hall Meeting about proposed traffic flow improvements on Old Cutler Road. A representative from Marlin Engineering (the Village’s traffic consultant) will be there to answer questions from the public about the matter. The Town Hall Meeting is scheduled prior to the Regular Council Meeting. Although this is not an official meeting of the Village Council, Councilmembers may attend at their option, but not participate. No official action will be taken. All members of the public are welcomed to attend, participate, and provide input. So if this is a topic that interests you, you should definitely attend.
Special Council Meeting for Palmetto Bay… The Village of Palmetto Bay will have a Special Council Meeting on Wednesday, January 9, at 7:00 p.m. at Village Hall, 9705 E. Hibiscus Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. Discussion and public input will be welcomed concerning an Ordinance on First Reading requiring a Public Hearing pursuant to the Downtown Urban Village (DUV) Zoning District. Foodie Alert! The 10th Annual Chili Day in Cutler Bay Chili Cook Off will take place on Saturday January 12 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Cutler Ridge Park, 10100 SW 200 Street in
Cutler Bay. Local chefs, both professional and amateur, will be preparing their chili, salsa and cornbread recipes in this highly popular yearly event, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Cutler Bay. Cash prizes will be awarded in all three categories, as well as for Best Decorated Booth and People’s Choice, which is voted on by those attending and sampling the food. There’ll be live music by “Cutler Stew,” Cutler Bay’s own hometown band, and fun activities for all. It’s a great family event and one you won’t want to miss. So don’t! Town of Cutler Bay Council Meeting will take place on January 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town of Cutler Bay Council Chambers, 10720 Caribbean Blvd., Cutler Bay. Senior Game Day in Palmetto Bay is Thursday, January 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
at the usual place, Ludovici Park, in the Edward & Arlene Feller Community Room, 17641 Old Cutler Road, Palmetto Bay.
Golf Cart Workshop & Movie Night in Palmetto Bay is on Saturday, January 12, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Palmetto Bay Park, 17535 SW 95 Avenue. There’ll be free safety inspections, info provided by local insurance companies, law and safety presentations and more. Cost is $5 per golf cart.
