The Miami-Dade Tax Collector’s Office recently conducted its Thanksgiving Turkey Drive at the new Coral Reef Tax Collector Office, providing turkeys to more than 300 families as part of its holiday outreach efforts.
The event represents an early community initiative at the newly opened location and reflects the office’s continuing commitment to serving residents through accessible, community-based programs.
“Thanksgiving is a moment to reflect on gratitude and community,” said Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “Hosting this event at our new Coral Reef office symbolizes the way we want to serve — closer to our residents, more present in their neighborhoods, and always ready to lend a helping hand.”
Families from across the South Dade region visited the Coral Reef office throughout the morning to receive a turkey ahead of the holiday. Staff and volunteers coordinated logistics, directed on-site operations, and ensured an orderly and efficient distribution process for all participants.
The Turkey Drive also served as an opportunity for residents to become acquainted with the Coral Reef office, which expands service capacity in the area and supports the Tax Collector’s objective of improving access to essential government services. The location will continue to serve as a hub for both daily operations and future community-focused programs.
The event was made possible through the collaboration of Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis, the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, and Grant Street Group, whose support contributed to an effective and well-organized distribution for families preparing for the holiday.
