Cutler Bay High School (CBHS) students Rachel N. Lauton, Marina K. Marquis and Tatiana G. Rodriguez represented the school at the inaugural Career Development Event (CDE): Entrepreneurship & Innovation for the Cruise Ship Industry competition. The recent event took place at the Double Tree by Hilton Miami with more than 10 schools from around the district participating.
The competition featured a problem statement, Identify a problem within the cruise industry: How would you redesign the cruising experience to enhance customer satisfaction?
The goal of the CDE is to have participants demonstrate a conceptual understanding of the practices of innovation and entrepreneurial thinking and to creatively apply those concepts to develop an innovative solution.
The CDE was in the form of a Pitch Feedback that utilizes an entrepreneurial approach using the team’s choice of presentation format with evidence of interdisciplinary collaborations.
One team of three or four students represented each school. The teams had up to five minutes to make their presentations with fiveminutes set-up time per team.
The winners will be announced during a spring awards event aboard a ruise ship to include a luncheon and tour of the ship. Prizes will be awarded to participants with the winners receiving the grand prize to include a large industry-sponsored trophy for the first-place.
