Incumbent Mayor Tim Meerbott was re-elected by a substantial margin during the Nov. 8 municipal election in the Town of Cutler Bay.
Incumbent Seat 1 Councilmember Robert “BJ” Duncan, who ran unopposed, was re-elected and first-time Seat 3 Councilmember Richard Ramirez, who also ran unopposed, was elected.
The results as posted by the Miami-Dade County Elections Office were as follows, with 14 of 14 participating precincts reporting:
Cutler Bay Mayor
Tim Meerbott, 9,741 votes or 70.13 percent
Thomas Francis McCormick, 4,149 votes or 29.87 percent
Once sworn in, Meerbott will serve his second consecutive term as mayor. He also was part of the first council of Cutler Bay and served as a council member from 2006 to 2010.
Mayor Meerbott was pleased with the election results.
“I am honored to be reelected to serve as mayor for the town of Cutler Bay,” Meerbott said.
“I see it as an affirmation that the citizens of Cutler Bay are happy with the direction that the town is going. The future is bright for Cutler Bay.”
The town’s newly elected officials were to be sworn in on Monday, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m., in the Town Hall Council Chambers, 10720 Caribbean Blvd., Suite 115, Cutler Bay, FL 33189.
