One of Cutler Bay’s most popular annual events, the Chili Cook-Off, is back for its 13th year on Jan. 21. Those wishing to participate in the spicy cooking competition are urged to register soon to have a place in the lineup of chefs, both amateur and professional.
As before, the Chili Cook-Off will take place at Cutler Ridge Park, located at 10100 SW 200 St. in Cutler Bay, and will run from 2 to 6 p.m.
“The Cook-Off is open to everyone and we will have three divisions — Amateurs, Restaurants and Firehouses,” said Desiree Ducasa, communications manager for the Town of Cutler Bay.
Want to be crowned Cutler Bay’s best chili maker? The cook-off categories are:
● Chili
● Salsa
● Cornbread
Cash prizes will be awarded in all three categories as well as for “Best Decorated Booth,” chosen by the official judges, and “People’s Choice” awards voted on by residents who attend.
This family-friendly event always draws a crowd and in addition to the competition will feature taste-testing for attendees with free chili, salsa and cornbread samples while supplies last. Food trucks will be onsite with other types of food items available for sale.
Live music will be provided by hometown band Cutler Stew, and for youngsters there will be a Kids Zone with face painters, inflatables, a video game bus and balloon artists creating fun souvenirs.
