Travel around the world at MCM’s Explorers Summer Camp 2017

Travel around the world this summer at Miami Children’s Museum’s (MCM) Explorers Summer Camp!

Each week, beginning Monday, June 12, through Friday, Aug. 25, campers will visit a different global destination and develop new skills through fun and unique art activities, dance, cooking and field trips. Campers, ages 4-10, will learn in a fun and safe environment as they explore the museum from top to bottom developing new interests and friends, and discover what happened to the dinosaurs while experiencing the new interactive exhibit, Dino Island.

Campers will experience a weekly journey, all within a safe hands-on learning environment. Each week, camp explorers will visit a different area of the world through interactive stories, hands-on projects, performances, and more. Campers will participate in fun and unique activities that support literacy, health and nutrition, art, music and creative thinking skills.

Complementing the weekly themes, campers will explore the museum’s galleries as well as participate in off-site field trips to fully immerse them in the culture, art, food and music of each destination on their summer journey.

Weekly Adventures will include:
Week 1: June 12-16: Caribbean, Kick Off with Carnaval;
Week 2: June 19-23: Sight See in South America;
Week 3: June 26-30: Outdoors of Africa;
Week 4: July 3-7: Outback of Oceania;
Week 5: July 10-14: Southeast Asia, Sail the Southeast Seas;
Week 6: July 17-21: Asian Amazement;
Week 7: July 24-28: Migrate Through the Middle East;
Week 8: July 31-Aug. 4: Europe and Yonder;
Week 9: Aug. 7-11: Arctic Adventure;
Week 10: Aug. 14-18: Navigate with Native North America, and
Week 11: Aug. 21-25: Discover the Floridian Frontier.

Camp takes place Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Campers must bring their own lunch and snack or purchase them from the museum’s Subway location. MCM also offers extended care that caters to working parents and their busy schedules with before and after care available.

MCM summer camp registration is now open. Fees are $198 per week for MCM members and $220 per week for non-members (sibling discounts available). Fee also includes a camp Y-shirt.

Parents are encouraged to register prior to the start of camp to avoid the $20 walk-in fee at the start of every week. Before care is available at $25 weekly and after care is $60 weekly.
