A local U.S. Army veteran experienced a life-changing event on Dec. 6 with the presentation of a vehicle to provide her independence and the ability to take care of her family — thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides program along with car donor GEICO and collision repair partner Classic Collision.
Karla Diaz, who received a 2017 Kia Optima, is a disabled U.S. Army veteran who served as a combat medic from 2006 to 2012. She is a widow raising three boys. One of her children is disabled and often has medical appointments. Diaz constantly depends on asking family and friends for rides. The gift of reliable transportation will enable her to care for her family’s needs.
NABC Recycled Rides is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council have donated more than 3,200 vehicles valued at some $46 million.
Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides presentation include Cars for Charity, Advanced Remarketing Services and Enterprise.
The vehicle presentation ceremony took place at Classic Collision, 10490 SW 186 Lane in Cutler Bay.
