Whigham Elementary School in Cutler Bay has received a substantial grant to benefit the school’s robotics program and club.
Adrian Delesdernier, education specialist and STEAM liaison at Whigham announced the news.
“The school was awarded a grant of $7,000 from a company that would like to remain anonymous,” Delesdernier said. “The funds are to be used to start a robotics club.”
The grant is intended to help purchase supplies for the club, provide shirts for competitions for 10 children involved in SECME. Involved will be four Whigham students from third grade, four students from fourth grade and two students from fifth grade.
Whigham will be partnering with a Westminster Christian School teacher and high school volunteer for weekly meetings, learning how to work together and for team building. They will participate in robotic competitions.
