Author/consultant Meryl Koslow tells CBBA members, ‘Be credible’

Dr. Meryl Koslow, president of Timeline Consulting and co-author of the new book Self-Made: Generate Your Wealth Like a Millionaire, addressed members of the Cutler Bay Business Association (CBBA) at their monthly meeting on Feb. 14.

Although Valentine’s Day, Koslow’s presentation was all about credibility as a business person and how anyone’s business could benefit from working on the ways they present themselves to others and how they connect with them. Through examples and explanations of the importance of establishing trust, certainty and confidence in others, whether it be with customers or employees, Koslow showed how to improve working relationships.

She said afterwards that she found the group receptive.

“From my perspective as a speaker, the Cutler Bay Business Association is a business group that has strong bonds with each other and is dedicated to creating mutually advantageous relationships with each other,” Koslow said. “They were gracious, warm, enthusiastic and eager to hear my message of ‘Credibility: Make it or Break it in Three Seconds or Less!’ CBBA truly wants to make a difference with their community of Cutler Bay and demands to continually educate themselves. It was my privilege and honor to be their speaker on Valentine’s Day 2013.”

As part of her presentation, Koslow had the members fill out questionnaires about the person seated next to them, rating them on such things as Determination, Energy, Feelings, Skills, Authenticity, Appearance and whether they seemed to be proactive and had a positive approach. Comparing scores afterward was intended to help each work on areas that needed improving. The members were still chatting with each other long after the meeting had ended.

Dr. Koslow founded Timeline Consulting in 2010 to “help entrepreneurs and organizations create business plans, implement sales strategies, build positive corporate culture, and improve personal outlook and quality of life.”

An undergraduate at the University of Florida in Gainesville and City University of New York Queens College, Koslow graduated from New York Chiropractic College. She maintained a chiropractic practice in New York City before turning her attention from the body itself to the mindset of success, and began advising other doctors. She now is a resident of South Florida.

Her new book, co-authored with husband Brian Koslow, focuses on personal finance and wealth-building opportunities.
