Jason and Melanie Schoendorfer “officially” opened their business, Babe’s Meat and Counter, 9216 SW 156 St. (just off US1), with a grand opening celebration on Sunday, July 1. This celebration was specially set to coincide with both Canada Day (Melanie is Canadian) and U.S. Independence Day. Joining in the celebration was Palmetto Bay Mayor Eugene Flinn. The party stated 10 a.m. and lasted well past the planned closing time of 2 p.m. A unique “sausage cutting” took place at 12:30 p.m. Babe’s Meat and Counter is open Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
