After Hurricane Irma’s impact on the Florida Keys there was some doubt at first whether Key West’s annual pre-Halloween costume party, Fantasy Fest, could take place, but after successful cleanup work in the island’s downtown area, the event went off as planned, running from Oct. 20 to 29.

Members of Cutler Bay’s Black Point Yacht Club travel to Key West on Friday, Oct. 27, to take part in the weekend wrap-up of the event.

Town resident Jean Tong-Noon of JMT Creates Events was one of the group.

“We wanted to go to Key West to support their tourism and Fest efforts,” Tong-Noon said following their return.

This year’s Fantasy Fest theme, “Time Travel Unravels,” gave guests the opportunity to dress up in costuming representative of any period of history. BPYC members decided to wear Steampunk (Victorian Science Fiction) costumes inspired by Peter Pan characters and others.
