Jett O. Forsythe, a graduating senior in the COAST Academy at Cutler Bay Senior High School, was honored recently by the Town of Cutler Bay.
Mayor Tim Meerbott recognized and presented a proclamation to Forsythe for consistently demonstrating brave action in times of need while on the ocean.
Forsythe is enrolled in the Cutler Bay Ocean Academy of Science and Technology (COAST) and an avid boater, experienced and knowledgeable in water safety, and was directly involved in saving more than 12 people in distress and in life-threatening situations while boating.
Forsythe used his boat safety training to deliver crucial information to first responders that led to the rescue of three people near South Point Pier Park. On several occasions he has recognized and aided boaters in distress along Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, towing them back to safety.
He is contemplating a career as a firefighter, police officer or Coast Guardsman, and pursuing a degree in Marine Biology or Ocean Conservation.

I am so very proud of this young man. He has always been helpful, respectful,and knowledgeable. It’s nice to hear about the good of a person, not the violence and hatefulness. He is what the future leaders of this country needs. He truly cares about others.
