Miami Dade College (MDC) and International Solidarity for Human Rights (ISHR), along with Miami city officials and dignitaries, unveiled a 16-foot creation of Uruguayan artist Mauro Arbiza, on December 10.

The sculpture entitled “Elevacion’ is inspired by Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression” at MDC  InterAmerican Campus in Little Havana.

The event also marked the start of the Route to Human Rights, a multi-media project spearheaded by ISHR that will place art created by local and international artists at 30 locations throughout Florida.

Each of the pieces will represent a different article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with “ the Route” beginning  and ending at MDC.
