Ocean Reef Community Foundation awards $30K grant to City Life KIX

The Ocean Reef Community Foundation awarded a $30,000 grant to City Life KIX, an after-school program under the umbrella of Greater Miami Youth for Christ, that provides daily spiritual character development, homework assistance, mentoring, fitness, literacy to at-risk students ages K-12 in West Homestead.

Stacy Morales, program founder and director, said the generous grant “will help us train new, young and indigenous leaders to become more effective in their teaching of our children who otherwise might not have the opportunities of one-on-one mentorship and guidance.”

For over 25 years, City Life KIX has provided all-inclusive, free after-school services for urban children and youth in two locations of Miami-Dade County: West Homestead/Florida City; Jordan Commons in Princeton, which is the nation’s largest Habitat for Humanity community.

Over 7,000 youths have been served by this program over the years, with many students graduating from college and returning to help other kids in need.

The Ocean Reef Community Foundation was born of many Ocean Reef Club members’ wishes to maximize the impact of their philanthropic efforts. The efficiency of the foundation’s management has become a source of encouragement for contributions and bequests, according to the OR Community Foundation’s website.

City Life KIX is located at 1088 W. Mowry Dr. in Homestead. For more information, contact Stacy Morales at 786-243-1600 or go to the website at miamiyfc.com.
