Funding Arts Broward (FAB) announced that two new Arts Access grants totaling $300,000 have been awarded to the South Florida Symphony Orchestra and the Arts Prevails Project.
The Arts Access grants were created to expand upon arts education programs that both organizations currently have in place within Broward County Public Schools and are made possible by funds raised by FAB’s SPARK campaign and a matching grant from the Community Foundation of Broward.
This marks the first time that FAB is awarding multiyear grants, with each organization receiving $50,000 annually over three years.
“This grant will help to reach thousands of young students with transformative music education, especially children in underserved schools,” said Jacqueline Lorber, CEO of the South Florida Symphony Orchestra.
These new Arts Access grants supplement FAB’s annual slate of grants. In 2025, a total of $400,000 will be distributed among 85 talented arts groups serving Broward County.
Art Prevails Project Founder and Artistic Director, Darius Daughtry remarked, “So many more children will now have access to arts education experiences that could truly change their lives and help shape their future.”
The need for additional support for arts education was among the key findings of a yearlong study that FAB began in 2023 culminating with the release of the “Enriching the Arts Opportunities in Broward County’s Arts Community” on Oct.16, 2024.
