Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School’s 16th Annual Children’s Fashion Show and luncheon, “To the Red Carpet”, was a stylish fundraising success. Held on October 20, 2012, at the Doubletree Miami Airport Convention Center, the event featured 130 student models, from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, and drew more than 700 guests.

The fashion show is the largest fundraiser for the first half of the school year. The $67,000.00 raised goes towards the “Lend-a-Hand” Scholarship Program that provides tuition assistance to families in need and the educational needs of the school.

Students ‘strut the red carpet,’ danced and performed under the direction of choreographer Teresita Miranda of Miranda Productions. Sasha Andrade, Special Projects News Reporter, WPLG/Channel 10 News served as MC.

The event’s success is attributed to many including Elsa Reus, OLL’s Director of Development, the Fashion Show Committee, volunteers Ivonne Gancedo, Lizy Roque, Petri Gutierrez, Ana Sanchez, Gaby Serrano-Florez, and Jose Diaz, and backstage crew.

The fundraiser was a great success due to the commitment of Grand Sponsor: Jackie Ohh…Events; and Diamond Sponsors: Femlife Healthcare for Women, Mayeya Foods, Mr. and Mrs. Reinaldo and Alina Hernandez, Mr. and Mrs. Rey and Beatriz Diaz, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben and Tahyra Alvarez and Oliva Cigar Company. The beautiful clothes modeled by students were provided by DILLARD’s of Pembroke Lakes Mall, Daisy Tarsi Boutique, Mother Goose, Camille & Sophie and Zayas Men’s Shop & Tuxedos. Recognition also is extended to the many businesses and individuals who donated items for the Chinese raffle and door prizes.

“Most importantly, we appreciate our talented students and their families for their patience, commitment and enthusiasm,” stated Reus. “Thanks to everyone who attended this year’s show where we enjoyed a great afternoon with our talented students!”
